The 63rd ASH Annual Meeting was held as a hybrid meeting at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from December 11-14, 2021. This is the premier event in malignant and non-malignant haematology and aims to discover the newest advances in haematology.
A poster was presented during the meeting on the International Hemoglobinopathy Research Network (INHERENT). It is a recently established Network with the aim of investigating the role of genetic modifiers in hemoglobinopathies, through a large-scale, multi-ethnic genome-wide association study. INHERENT brings together nine existing international or regional consortia in the field of hemoglobinopathies, including the ARISE consortia that Fondazione Benzi coordinates.
INHERENT membership is international and interdisciplinary and, currently, includes over 160 experts from 89 organizations, spanning 36 countries worldwide.
Fondazione Gianni Benzi is actively involved in the network activities, particularly in the ethics working group that aims to guide research activities to be conducted within the network ensuring the compliance with the applicable international and national ethical and legal rules.
