In order to give the 5 x 1000 of income tax in favor of the Gianni Benzi Pharmacological Research Foundation you have just to enter the taxpayer’s code 933 478 007 29 of income tax returns in correspondence of ‘funding Scientific Research and University’, and then sign it.
The allocation of the 5 per thousand in favor of the only not-for-profit organisation active in the scientific field based in the Puglia Region will help to improve the quality of research. Research is a complex and expensive activity always representing the basis for the growth and development of a Country. It encourages the creation of job opportunities for young people.
The Foundation pursues only the aim of performing pharmacological research in areas of social importance, is committed to promote the realisation of an advanced European pharmaceutical system, and the ethical and safe use of medicines, standing out in the fight against doping, promoting actions in schools and within the scientific community.
The Gianni Benzi Pharmacological Research Foundation is dedicated to research activities carried out directly by its members or entrusted to Universities, research centers or public and private organisations.
The Foundation promotes and organises meetings, conferences, training courses, events, awareness campaigns and editorial initiatives.
Among health education activities, the Foundation organises the annual “Foresight Training Courses”.
They are courses for highly specialised professionals, aimed at responding to the complex needs linked to the implementation of the European Pharmaceutical System. It represents a further contribution to the advancement of pharmacological research.
A high-level professional team manages the Eu-Orphan Project, a database collecting information on orphan drugs designated and approved in Europe and U.S.. The database is a point of reference for associations of patients affected by rare diseases. It is easily accessible on the website www.euorphan.com.
The Foundation participates in three research Projects funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme: DEferiprone Evaluation in Paediatrics (DEEP), including the study of Deferiprone in children affected by ß-Thalassaemia Major (www.deep.cvbf.net), Global Research in Paediatrics (GRIP), an action aimed at networking international Institutions active in the field of paediatric research and Clonidine for Sedation of Paediatric Patients in the Intensive Care Unit (CLOSED), which aims to conduct multi-center and multinational paediatric clinical trials of an ad hoc clonidine pharmaceutical formulation for children.
Finally, the Foundation is also included in a project of the Second Health Programme 2008-201, InNerMeD-I-Network (Inherited Diseases Information NeuRoMetabolic NETWORK), which aims to develop a network of information required for diagnosis and treatment of inherited neurometabolic diseases (iNMDs) based on the collection and exchange of information between interested parties.
In the final analysis, the Gianni Benzi Foundation Onlus is a founding member of the District H-BIO Puglia set up under the National Operational Programme for Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013, which includes four technological issues: personalized medicine, innovative therapies, technologies, and services for the advanced diagnostics and new production processes.
